I`m not wholly computer literate but know a little bit- my mums laptop has a connection problem- its a fuji siemens amilo and has windows vista- she said she was online this morning and was completing a survey, then everything went blank and now the pc says it is connected to the internet but when i try to open any web page it says internet explorer could not open the webpage- any help please ?
How easy is it to wipe everything off your laptop and then reload all to start again?
My husband reformats our computer regularly, just to keep it running well and to get all of the junk off. It is extremely easy. Just make sure you have all of your program disks so you can reload everything
Reply:is it wireless? try turning everything off, even the modem. give it a few minutes and reboot, then run antivirus in safe mode. try calling isp for trooble shooting help, you can also get better computer questions answered on craigslist
Reply:try booting in f8 first if you have the vista disk you can go to add or remove components and remove all that and then reinstall your vista disk
Reply:alot of laptops have factory setting restore mine is a dell when i tunr pc on and www.dell.co.uk bar comes up i hit ctrl and f11 and it resets it look up the make of your pc and how to factory reset or email me what it is and ill find out for u
have u been in internet options to check if history is at 1 or more days have you got a virus program that has a privacy program this wipes out history for safety but can be disabled
is the cable in the pc connected to the router is this the only page thats not working are any other sites working
if she is wireless has she turned it off start - control panel -network settings - right click on wireless - enable -repair
Reply:Easy if you know what your doing i could do it in under an hour but you don't live near me.
Reply:Very Easy Look in windows Hep to Reformat. or go to the c:\ and Type "Format C". Switch off the computer then on again. Put in your OS Disk and it should start to boot up Windows. Then you can load up your other progs. If you have a "Rescue" disk supplied with your computer use that it will restore your computer to what it was like when you bought it. Do not forget to search for upgrades again.
Reply:It's easy if you know what your doing, if haven't done it before, it can be a little confusing.
If you have the restore cd's that came with the laptop then it should go much easier.
Reply:Do you have Internet connectivity first of all? You need to open the command line and "ping streamyx.com". If you get a reply then you're connected.
Sometimes the problem is with streamyx. Check your modem to see if the ADSL light is steady and not missing/or blinking. If not steady, your TMNET line is faulty. Nothing then to do with your computer.
You could also have invited some virus or worms into your system. Make sure you have the latest update of antivirus. McAfee is good.
If you are computer illiterate, don't try it yourself. Bring it to me and I'll fix it for you. For a fee, of course...
