Help help help.....I am a new web user........What happened?

I am a 4 month user of the web ....I have a friend that sends me


1/2 way clean jokes and I have been passing to my 25 or so friends....Latey every day I receive about 100 Bulk messages about stuff lif.....You Are a winner...Or I can get a 500 dollar gift card for just filling out some survey....What Did I do wrong I hate these scams .....I hit the spam box but they keep comming back .....Please tell me how to stop these ***..... PLEASE HELP

Welcome to the world of email. Spam (those unwanted mails that are landing in your Bulk folder) are sent to everyone. We all have to cope with them.





Firstly, DON'T open any of them. Spam email is the most common way to infect your computer with a virus. Secondly, just the act of opening a mail will alert the spammer that you have an active address, so you can expect to be flooded with many more spam mails in the future. Thirdly, take great care in giving out your email address whenever filling in online forms. The more of these you fill in, the greater the chances of receiving more spam.





You can set Yahoo to delete spam from the Bulk folder immediately upon receipt. I don't turn that feature on because I've received mails from friends and found them in the Bulk folder instead of the Inbox. So, every few days I look at the senders' names in the Bulk folder just in case a friend's message is there. If not, I empty the folder.
