Anyone ever hear of those web sites where you get paid to take surveys?

Does anyone know of any legitimate ones? I thought about joining a few, but you usually have to pay a membership enrollment fee or something like that, and that makes me skeptical. Anyone know of any that are truly legitimate, and even better, any that don't cost anything to join?

Anyone ever hear of those web sites where you get paid to take surveys?
I've done several free online surveys. They mostly explain how you get X amount of dollars for each completed survey. And at the very very bottom of the survey website, is fine print that explains, after completing a survey your name is entered into a drawing for the X amount of dollars.

So basically, if 300 people do the same survey, only 1 is getting like 10 or 15 bucks. I did notice a couple "membership" surveys, but after doing 10 free surveys and not receiving one cent, its probably not worth it. Too good to be true.
Reply:like any where they will invite you for a biref survey but i think that those things are fraud do not trust them ever
Reply:Most of them are scams.
Reply:Yes, I do! I've listed most of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or received other rewards like gift cards or CD'S) on the following webpage--and they are all free to join:

http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys

I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc. (And yes, if I say they have an affiliate program, I'm part of it, and make a commission when someone signs up through that link...I like to be up front about that).

But there are also scams out there you have to watch out for. Here are some tips to avoid them:

Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys (they mainly direct you to free sites like the ones I listed--at least, thats what I read in an article in Parents last year). Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not aggregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).

Also, never sign up for a survey through an unsolicited e-mail--since these might not even be from the site they claim to be, but could be a phishing scheme to get your information and mis-use it. And never give your credit card info--there is no good reason a legitimate free site would need it.

Here are two other sites which are very helpful

Reply:i do surveys on myspace!
Reply:There are some that are legitimate and free, but probably not what you are looking for. I am a member of 2 such site, and the 'pay' is either in points that you can cash out or buy prizes. 1000 points = $10 and surveys range from 10 points for a very short one, to one I am in that every three months, for the whole month I log what I spend and how (ie credit card, debit, cash) which pays 1000. Also, sometimes you will get a survey that will pay $2 or $3, so it is not a lot of money. Once I got $5 to try out a 'mystery' brand of deodorant. So, $5 and a free stick of deodorant wasn't a bad deal.

Altogether, I have cashed out maybe $150 over the course of the year, so it is enough to get some stuff. In the beginning, you will not get the higher paying surveys, but once you take the lower ones, the better ones will come.

The two I use are mysurvey.com and esearch.com I emailed a link to you if you would like to join. I get 150 points for referring someone.
Reply:Yes and it's not worth it. Trust me I know I did it.
